Glenda Monterey, LMFT

Glenda Rogers Monterey holds a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Illinois. Glenda provides clinical services to children, teens, adults, couples and families with diverse presenting issues. She also provides trauma and sexual behavior problem assessments for children.

Glenda was part of a state-wide initiative in Washington to train providers in using Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence based practice for treating youth recovering from trauma. She has extensive experience using TF-CBT and provides trainings on how to effectively use TF-CBT with Complex Trauma. Glenda is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and uses it with all ages to treat trauma, anxiety, phobias and self-esteem issues.

Glenda completed an externship with Sue Johnson in Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), which is an evidence based model used to help couples get out of problematic cycles and reconnect in powerful ways.

Glenda believes that change happens in the context of a collaborative relationship, where internal and external resources are identified and developed. Some of the techniques Glenda uses to facilitate the process of change include CBT and DBT skills training, expressive arts and the use of imagery.
